Sunscreen spray mists for sensitive skin
Fits comfortably in your luggage
How important is using high factor sunscreen to you when you travel? For me, it’s something I take quite seriously but the sun cream forms can be tedious to apply. I also find some brands can be greasy, or they don’t work well with my sun-sensitive skin.
Because of this, I’m a big fan of the high factor sunscreen sprays and mists. They’re easy to apply, give long-lasting protection, and many come in travel size. This post lists my top choices for travel-size sunscreen sprays and mists, and with a high SPF factor.
COOLA travel Sport SPF50 Sunscreen Spray Guava Mango – travel size sunscreen spray
I’ve been using COOLA sun care products for a little over a year now. The company specializes in creating organic sun care that only uses natural and certified ingredients. The end result is products that are strong enough to protect, while also moisturizing your skin.
COOLA travel Sport SPF50 Sunscreen Spray Guava Mango is a hardworking body spray with a fruity fragrance. It contains 70% organic ingredients like cucumber, algae and strawberry extracts. The spray also contains red raspberry seed oil, which is a natural sunscreen booster.
It’s a sheer, water- and sweat-resistant organic formula, packed with antioxidants and skin-nourishing ingredients. I love that it absorbs into the skin fast, and there’s no greasy feel. Another feature I like is that the spray also works even when I hold it upside down!
The can’s a travel-friendly 100ml, and contains natural extracts of guava and mango. The smell’s subtle, not overbearing, and easily covers any hard-to-reach areas.
SVR Sun Secure Invisible Fresh Mist SPF50 – travel-size sunscreen sprays
SVR is a small French brand that was created by pharmacists Simone and Robert Véret. The company focuses on producing leading skincare for all skin types.
SVR Sun Secure Invisible Fresh Mist SPF50 is a spray you apply before, and during, sun exposure.
The ultra-fine mist is suitable for the entire family (children ages 3+) and offers very high sun protection. It’s water resistant, easy to apply, and feels instantly cooling on application.
I particularly like this product as I’ve very sensitive skin and suffer from heat rash, and it’s travel-sized too (100ml). SVR Sun Secure Invisible Fresh Mist SPF50 is suitable for sun-hypersensitive skin and contains no parabens.
You can apply the spray to the face and body, re-applying approximately every 2 hours especially after sweating or swimming. Be sure to spray onto your hands first before applying to the face, and avoid contact with the eyes.
Lancaster Sun Sport Invisible Face Mist SPF30
The next product’s a good choice if you spend plenty of time playing sports or doing outdoor activities. Lancaster Sun Sport Invisible Face Mist SPF30 consists of light technology, targeting 100% sun rays. As its name suggests, the spray is specially designed for the face.
It’s fast drying, alcohol-free, easy to use, and even makeup compatible. The spray may be SPF30 but it’s effective enough to give long-lasting sun protection.
Its formula protects skin from all 4 types of sun rays and you can also use it on wet skin. Lancaster Sun Sport Invisible Face Mist SPF30 is water and sweat resistant.
The spray comes in a handy 100ml can, and leaves behind no annoying white marks. Shake the can well until you hear the noise of the ball. Then, while holding the can (15cm away), spray over your face, making sure to close your eyes and mouth. Use your hands to spread it evenly around your face.
La Roche Posay Anthelios Anti-Shining Invisible Fresh Mist SPF50
– sunscreen sprays for travel
If you’re unfamiliar with La Roche-Posay, this French label has been around for a long time. Its Anthelios Anti-Shine Invisible Fresh Mist Spray SPF50+ helps you tan safely while protecting you at the same time.
Providing very high broad-spectrum sun protection against UVA and UVB, it’s suitable for fair, sun-sensitive or intolerant skin.
At 75ml, the spray easily fits into your cabin bag. It’s also easy to use, and contains La Roche-Posay thermal spring water, which refreshes and hydrates skin. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sun Protection Face has been dermatologically tested, and is hypoallergenic, water-resistant and free from parabens.
You can apply the spray on top of, or beneath make-up, and it quickly absorbs into the skin. I especially like that the spray also leaves a matte effect — something oily skin types will appreciate.
Apply the spray before sun exposure. Though it does offer 24 hours of sun protection, you should re-apply occasionally, particularly after sweating, towel-drying or swimming.
Ambre Solaire Sensitive Hydrating Hypoallergenic Face Sun Cream Mist SPF50
Fellow readers with sun-sensitive skin will like this next choice. Garnier Ambre Solaire Sensitive Hydrating Face Sun Cream Mist SPF 50 protects skin from harmful UV rays and other factors. This includes pollution and heat, which can damage, age and dehydrate your skin.
The spray’s particularly good for anyone with fair, sensitive or sun-intolerant skin. Lightweight and invisible upon application, the formula’s non-greasy and can be applied over make-up.
At 75ml, the mist is ideal for traveling and provides up to 24 hours hydration. Shake well before using, and be sure to close your eyes and mouth when applying. Spray evenly on the face at a minimum distance of 15cm. As before, you should apply the mist before and during sun exposure.
PIXI Sun Mist – travel size sunscreen spray
I’m a big fan of the PIXL brand in general, especially its bestselling Glow Tonic. So, when I found out about PIXI’s Sun Mist, I had to immediately take a look.
The lightweight formula’s a sheer sunscreen with SPF 30, which helps to protect keep skin from harmful UV rays.
A combination of extracts of sunflower and cucumber work to condition, hydrate and cool the skin. You can apply PIXL Sun Mist before or after makeup, and continually throughout the day.
The formula, in 80ml travel-friendly packaging, helps to prevent sunburn and premature ageing. Shake the mist before using, and apply 15 minutes before exposure to the sun.
Be sure to re-apply the mist after taking part in activities such as swimming (40 minutes after). The same applies after sweating and you should apply immediately after towel drying.
