Central London Airbnb: 10 boutique apartments

AUGUST 2020

I’ve been a fan of Airbnb since the start-up began making waves in the accommodation scene in 2010.

Having experienced both sides of the Airbnb coin, as a guest and a host, I still regularly use the platform.

From booking an eco-friendly glamping site in Gili Trawangan to a luxury riad in Marrakech, Airbnb has made it possible. Add to that, reasonable pricing — naturally depending on the destination and accommodation type.

London living with Airbnb

One of the biggest selling points of Airbnb, is that you can have a local experience on your travels.

And, in a city like London, this can be a huge plus. Staying in a local area, and potentially with a knowledgeable host, gives you a whole other perspective.

You can discover nearby coffee shops for your morning cappuccino, or the best dessert places when your cravings take hold.

If you’re looking for a boutique, yet affordable, Airbnb in Central London, I’ve got you covered. Suitable for couples, families and UK staycations, these 20 elegant choices are your London home away from home.

1. The one that’s a private architect’s house — Fitzrovia

Enjoy the ultimate in Airbnb sophistication with this stunning apartment in Fitzrovia.

The serviced apartment belongs to an architect, who regularly hosts on Airbnb. There are 3 well-sized bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, making it ideal for larger groups.

The interior’s modern, sleek and with plenty of natural light. Each bedroom is individually decorated, and comes with either a king or a queen-size bed and a memory foam mattress.

Where is Fitzrovia?

The area of Fitzrovia is quite unique, in that while it’s considered as Central London, it’s also very residential.

Staying here, means being in walking distance of some of the finest bars and restaurants as well as London Theatreland.

The regular crowd consists of city professionals to international students living in the area. It’s a top choice if you’re looking for accommodation that’s centrally located, but not overly noisy.

2. The one with the bijou garden — Notting Hill

You’ve seen the movie, now experience staying in the picturesque area that is Notting Hill.

A black and white color theme runs throughout this Central London Airbnb, with chic designer furnishings to match.

Its biggest draw is its garden. Perfect for enjoying an outdoor breakfast, or having an evening glass of wine, you’re sure to feel at home.

The apartment has all the amenities you need, including fast WiFi and bathroom toiletries. The property’s also pet friendly and provides basic essentials for your furry companions.

A world-famous market and more — Central London Airbnb

Notting Hill is one of my favorite places to visit in London. Browse the stalls of its famous market (just like in the film) or explore the neighborhood with its colorful doors.

The area’s also home to several excellent Spanish and Portuguese cafes and restaurants. In short, Notting Hill’s the place which has everything on its doorstep and with plenty to discover in the vicinity.

Central London Airbnb — what is a mews?

Across certain parts of Central London, you may walk past a mews without realizing it.

These cobbled-stone streets contain rows of houses that were built behind larger ones. They were once used as stables, and carriage houses, for the horses and coachmen of wealthy proprietors.

Today, the houses in mews are typically high-end homes (or offices) in upmarket parts of the city.
