A posh weekend in Paris

Last updated on January 29th, 2026.

A posh weekend in Paris is something everyone should do at least once in their lifetime.

A city associated with romance, art and sheer luxury, it’s little wonder why it’s a popular Valentine’s Day destination. From luxury boutique hotels, to Michelin-star restaurants, enjoying Paris is an art in itself.

5 ways to have a posh weekend in Paris

1. Arrive in style

Your posh weekend in Paris can start from the second you arrive in the French capital.

Sure, you can take a first-class flight or book a Paris day trip with Eurostar. However, to really start your Paris weekend off on the right foot, why not consider taking a private jet?

Luxury travel doesn’t get more luxurious than this, plus there will be no fighting with other passengers over baggage space.

2. Stay at a luxury boutique hotel

Every now and then, you come across a boutique hotel that surpasses all your expectations.

Hôtel Splendide Royal Paris - Relais & Châteaux is a luxury traveler’s dream, and the ideal spot to enjoy your posh weekend in Paris.

Located in the heart of the historic and cultural center, the hotel’s also a short walk from the Champs-Élysées, home to the magnificent Arc di Triomphe. The suites are generous in size, and designed in exquisite Italian style.

Exquisite features

My favorite is the Parisienne Suite, which has a spacious bedroom, separate living room and a walk-in a dressing room.

Better yet, it’s located on the higher floors, providing a view of the rooftops of Paris. The suite has an elegant bathroom made from light marble, and plenty of natural light from the large windows.

3. Shopping — the Parisienne way

A fashionista’s paradise, you simply can't ignore the high-end stores in Paris. And close to Hotel Splendide Royal Paris are two shopping districts, Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and Avenue Montaigne.

Designer paradise

The former’s home to Élysée Palace as well as the residence of the President. It also has many stores selling leather goods and jewellery.

In the latter, you can find international fashion brands like Prada and Valentino, along with French ready-to-wear labels.

4. Paris afternoon tea

Afternoon tea, or high tea, isn’t something you’d associate straight away with the French capital.

However, given the French’s love affair with patisserie, you’d be wrong not to sample the cake perfection. Having afternoon tea is one of my favorite things to do in Paris.

L’Orangerie is an art-deco inspired glass and steel structure, and one of the restaurants at the Four Seasons Hotel George V. If you're visiting Paris for the first time, come here to sink your teeth into some of the best patisserie around.

5. Check into a luxury spa

Round off your posh weekend in Paris with some well-deserved time in one of the best spas in the city. Dior Institut au Hôtel Plaza Athénée combines the elegance of this famed French fashion label with a luxury hotel in Paris.

Breathe in, and out

Along with a relaxation room and sauna, there are 5 treatment rooms, offering everything from facials to massages.

I particularly love the sound of The L’Or de Vie Miracle’ treatment. This 120-minute facial uses Yquem sap essence, and Shiatsu techniques, to reinvigorate your skin and restore your glow.

Although I would love to do each of the things you've mentioned Lisa (imagine, flying into the luxury capital of the world in a private jet and staying in the Parisienne Suite of Hotel Splendide Royal Paris ), I am pretty sure I will not be able to afford it, not yet at least haha. I can, however, treat myself to high-tea at L’Orangerie, bite into that amazing macaroon and pamper myself to The L’Or de Vie Miracle’ treatment. How lovely would that be!

You're right, I don't think of Paris and high tea together, but it's a great idea for a treat, and French patisserie is the best. This sounds like my kind of weekend getaway!

The Parisienne Suite is located at the best of Paris. I would not mind a high tea and yes, who would not love to indulge in a spa later on? The list has everything I like to do in a vacation this posh!

    1. The private jet is really a luxury way to travel, and pretty fun to have the whole plane to yourself!
