5 ways to have a posh weekend in Paris

JANUARY 2019

A posh weekend in Paris is something everyone should do at least once in their lifetime. A city associated with romance, art and sheer luxury, it’s little wonder why it’s a popular Valentine’s Day destination. From luxury boutique hotels, to Michelin-star restaurants, enjoying Paris is an art in itself.

Arrive in style

Your posh weekend in Paris can start from the second you arrive in the French capital. Sure, you can take a first-class flight or travel in first class on the Eurostar. However, to really up the luxury stakes, why not consider taking a Vistajet private jet? Luxury travel doesn’t get more luxurious than this, plus there will be no fighting with other passengers over baggage space!

Paris luxury boutique hotel

Every now and then, you come across a boutique hotel that surpasses all your expectations. Hotel Splendide Royal Paris is a luxury traveler’s dream, and the ideal spot to enjoy your posh weekend in Paris. Located in the heart of the historic and cultural centre, the hotel’s also a short walk from the Champs-Élysées. The suites are generous in size, and designed in exquisite Italian style.

My favorite is the Parisienne Suite, which has a spacious bedroom, separate living room and a walk-in a dressing room. Better yet, it’s located on the higher floors, providing a view of the rooftops of Paris. The suite has an elegant bathroom made from light marble, and plenty of natural light from the large windows.

Posh weekend in Paris – shopping

A fashionista’s paradise is browsing the high-end stores in Paris. And close to Hotel Splendide Royal Paris are 2 shopping districts, Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and Avenue Montaigne.

The former’s home to Élysée Palace, the residence of the President, as well as many stores selling leather goods and jewellery. In the latter, you can find international fashion brands like Prada and Valentino, along with French ready-to-wear brands.

Posh weekend in Paris – Paris afternoon tea

Afternoon tea, or high tea, isn’t something you’d associate straight away with the French capital. However, given the French’s love affair with patisserie, you’d be wrong not to sample the cake perfection.

L’Orangerie is an art-deco inspired glass and steel structure, and one of the restaurants at the Four Seasons Paris. Sink your teeth into some of the best patisserie around, and taste expertly made pastry that’s almost too good to eat.

Posh weekend in Paris – Dior Institut au Plaza Athénée

Round off your posh weekend in Paris with some well-deserved time in one of the best spas in the city. Dior Institut au Plaza Athénée combines the elegance of this famed French fashion label with a luxury hotel in Paris.

Along with a relaxation room and sauna, there are 5 treatment rooms, offering everything from facials to massages. I particularly love the sound of The L’Or de Vie Miracle’ treatment. This 120-minute facial uses Yquem sap essence, and Shiatsu techniques, to reinvigorate your skin and restore your glow.
