I’m not someone who you’d call a night owl. Give me an evening of fine dining and good wine and I’m ready to call it a night.
However, place me in a destination like Singapore and it’s all systems go. In a city that has so much going on at night, nocturnal activities extend beyond drinking and clubbing.
An ideal post for fun-loving night owls, this post lists the best things to do at night in Singapore.
Perfect temperatures
The biggest draw for going out at night in Singapore is its climate. Coming from Europe, I’m used to unpredictable weather even in the midst of summer.
In Singapore, the balmy temperatures at night suit me perfectly. Granted, you’ll probably need a light sweater or jacket if entering places where the air conditioning is turned up high.
Temperatures in Singapore typically sit around 73°F(23°C ) in December and January. In the hotter months between April and May, a maximum temperature of 90°F (32°C) is the standard.
While it can feel humid, I find the warm weather more bearable at night in Singapore than during the day.
Sizzling things to do at night in Singapore
A floral delight by night
If you don’t recognize Gardens by the Bay by its name, you surely will by its photos. Easily one of Singapore’s best, and most renowned, attractions, it’s one sight you don’t want to miss.

The complex consists of 3 grand gardens, spanning across 101 hectares. Bay South is the largest, and it's where you’ll find the garden’s iconic Supertrees. Ranging from 25m to 50m in height, these artistic structures are a sight for the senses.
However, it's at nightfall when the Gardens by the Bay really come to life. One of the best things to do at night in Singapore is to watch the trees light up and illuminate the sky. A magical scene, it's unmissable when visiting Singapore.
There are 18 Supertrees in total, 12 of which are in the Supertree Grove. Come here to admire the trees and to take in the views of the surrounding Marina Bay area.
A later addition to Supertree Grove was the Supertree Observatory.
Its location at the canopy of the tallest Supertree provides un-rivalled views of the city from its rooftop deck.
Entrance to Gardens by the Bay is free, but there’s an admission fee for certain attractions like the Supertree Observatory.
More than a garden
While here, be sure to make time to visit the Flower Dome. Its ever-changing display of floral varieties are an impressive sight and will make a colorful addition to your Instagram.
Bay East is the second largest of the gardens and offers a more relaxed ambience to the lively city streets.
This vast green space is ideal for taking a stroll, having a picnic or for simply enjoying the views.

Dinner, drinks and dancing at Marina Bay Sands
A short hop, skip and a jump away from the gardens is another unmissable attraction, Marina Bay Sands.
As well as being known as a 5-star luxury hotel, visitors also come for the other activities within the complex.
Its number of shops, cafes and restaurants help to entice thousands of people through its doors each year. Happy hour drinks here are served with plenty of class and striking panoramic views.
Night swimming
However, the hotel’s most famous attraction is its rooftop SkyPark Infinity Pool.
Measuring 150m long, the pool stretches across the top of the hotel’s building, allowing for plenty of space to swim.
One of the best things to do at night in Singapore, watch from the pool as the city transforms into a dazzling light display.
One big but to know, is that the SkyPark Infinity Pool is only available for hotel guests. However, if you still want to see the views from level 57, all is not lost.
A bite with a view
Spago Bar and Lounge is an American-style bar that serves up creatively blended cocktails and tempting Asian snacks.
It also has an area where you can enjoy outdoor dining while enjoying a pool view. Spago Bar and Lounge is open every day from 7am till late.**
Treat your tastebuds to an Asian gastronomic feast at CÉ LA VI Restaurant and SkyBar. Also situated on level 57 — but in Tower 3 — your inner foodie will be satisfied by its tantalizing menu.
Once you’ve happily lined your stomach, continue the party at CÉ LA VI Club Lounge. Let the DJs, and a few more cocktails, take you from the night into the morning.
Let there be light
Another attraction at Marina Bay Sands — that’s completely free and worth mentioning — is a light and water show called Spectra.
It bears a similar resemblance to the infamous ‘dancing’ water show at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Spectra takes place every evening at 8 and 9pm, with an extra show at 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights.**

Get your dim sum on
By the time many people have called it a night, some of Singapore’s best eateries are still open for business.
Swee Choon Tim Sum has been keeping the locals happy and full with its mouth-watering menu since 1962.
A no-frills foodie experience, most people come to Swee Choon Tim Sum for one thing: the dim sum. Fried, baked or steamed dumplings, it’s a popular place to satisfy your late-night munchies.

A comforting treat
When night falls and you’re looking for some authentic Singaporean comfort food, there’s one dish that surpasses them all.
Bak Kut Teh is a traditional dish of fall-off the bone pork ribs in a fragrant steaming broth. Varieties can differ depending on the seller, but the base is usually the pork rib soup.

Satisfy your late-night dessert cravings
When a scoop of vanilla ice cream just won’t do, check out this dessert spot instead when in Singapore.
The clue’s in the name in 2am: dessertbar. A chic and sophisticated setting to match its selection of sweets, cakes here come with plenty of finesse.
Open till late*, the menu at 2am: dessertbar includes tempting items such as the yuzu cheesecake with mango jelly.
You’ll also find other Asian-style desserts, some similar to Filipino desserts, as well as those with more international influences.

Try out a board game cafe
If lively conversation and game playing attract you more than a sweaty nightclub, Singapore’s alternative late-night activity may interest you.
Board game cafes in Singapore offer visitors a place to play, eat and drink with friends. They’re also a refreshing change from the normal nocturnal places to frequent.
There are several in the city, but 2 popular haunts that attract regulars back include Settlers Cafe and Mind Cafe.
The biggest draw to Settlers Cafe is its impressive arsenal of 600 board games. Add to this plenty of comfy furniture, laid-back vibes, and a food and drink menu filled with comforting classics.
It’s a chilled place to hang with friends and it’s easy to see why the locals enjoy visiting. Settlers Cafe is open from Tuesday to Thursday 6pm to 11pm, and from 2pm to 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.**
It’s all in the Mind
With almost 500 games to their name, there’s no chance of getting bored at The Mind Cafe.
It works a little differently from Settlers Cafe in that each person pays $5 per hour (excluding food and drinks). However, they usually run several promotions that include food and drink and unlimited gaming, which works out a lot cheaper.
Open till 2am**, The Mind Cafe is ideal for gaming fun and is an activity that’s family-friendly too.

Shop in the midnight hour
Holding the title of Singapore’s only 24-hour shopping mall, Mustafa is where you can shop when everyone else is asleep.
Spread across 4 levels measuring over 400,000sq ft, you’re sure to find everything you need here. Located in the Little India quarter of Singapore, Mustafa has the whole enchilada from clothes and shoes to electronics.
Orchard Road = shopping paradise
In the popular shopping area of Orchard Road, many of the stores and malls also cater to late-night shoppers.
Plaza Singapura, Paragon, 313@Somerset and ION Orchard are just some of the shopping centers that close at 10pm every night.**
If markets interest you more than the malls, you’ll enjoy visiting the Chinatown Night Market. With merchandise ranging from kitsch to chic, there’s plenty on display to grab your attention.
The Chinatown Night Market is open from Monday to Thursday till 11pm, and Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays till 1am.**

Grab a nighttime catch
Feeling in the mood for a little (fresh) late-night shrimp?
If so, this unique nighttime activity in Singapore lets you have a go at catching your very own batch. Prawning centers are places where you can fish for your crustacean and at any time of the day or night.
Open for 24 hours, it’s something different to try for when you’ve exhausted the standard nocturnal activity list.
There are several in Singapore to choose from, such as Hai Bin Punggol and Prawning at Orto.

Check out the architecture
When the sun sets in Singapore, it’s time to head out and visit some of the city’s best architectural sights.
Popular with walkers, joggers and Instagrammers, Henderson Waves Bridge is a sight to be seen and experienced.
As its name suggests, its unique wave design and length (274m) makes it one of Singapore’s iconic landmarks.
One of the best things to do at night in Singapore, Henderson Waves Bridge is better enjoyed with fewer people around.
It's also more enjoyable because of the cooler climate. Come here to take in the views and to photograph the city without any interruptions.
Durian by building
Esplanade — Theatres on the Bay is one building that’s hard to miss. Singapore’s national performing arts center is as well known for its excellent program, as it is for its spiky-shaped dome.
Its unusual shape has awarded the building another name by the locals: the durian building. If you’re unfamiliar with this south-east Asian fruit, it has a distinctive appearance and smell too.
Along with a concert hall, Esplanade — Theatres on the Bay also has several shops, and places to eat and drink.
Unless you’re planning to see an exhibition or a concert, admission is 100% free and well worth a visit.

We love to explore a new city at night and discover a very different view of the city. Every night we were in Singapore we headed out to find the night views. Gardens by the Bay was pretty dull in the day. But with a music show it was magical at night. Sadly we missed getting up in the Marina Bay Sands during the day or night. Fun to plan a swim as the sun set. But we had no problem finding tasty food at night markets in Singapore. A good reminder of why we need to get back to Singapore.
It definitely is a city that comes alive at night. I agree that Gardens by the Bay is much better when it's dark!
I have not visitied Singapore for ages - and back than I did not have enough money to enjoy the nightlife. So your post made me want to travel to Singapore again. I never thought about the possibility of swimming at night time at the infinity pool - but it definitely sounds like an experience. And of course, some dim sum!

You reminded me of my trip in August last year for a week. Gardens by the Bay and spending time shopping, eating, a casino trip was such fun at Marina Bay Sands. I loved the food on offer in Singapore and the prices are very reasonable. Fabulous dessert options, street food and so much to look forward to in this lovely city.

I love Singapore. I have been there a few times and I have experienced the night life. My most favourite was visiting the Marina Bay Sands. the views were absolutely amazing. I was not aware of the other things that you have listed here, I think I will need to visit again to experience these.

It’s been over 15 years since I was in Singapore and there are so many new things to do now that I definitely need to go back! One thing I did enjoy when I was there was a visit to the night zoo to see all the nocturnal animals actually up and about.
Lol we went there too the first time, definitely return one day, Singapore has come a long way since then 😀

I would definitely be up for those late-night activities. Being a night owl myself, it always frustrates me a lot that by the time I wake up, take a shower and go out, most things are already only a few hours away from closing. So I appreciate it when things close late.

Last time I visited Singapore, it was with kids, and so we were all in bed around 10ish LOL! Looks like I need to make another trip solo or when the kids are a lot older to enjoy Singapore at night. I'd especially love the games cafes, and shopping, and hanging out at Spago's in Marina Bay Sands.

Such great memories of Singapore at night. The Gardens By The Bay were one of our all time favourite night light and music shows. We are sorry we missed going up in the Marina Bay Sands hotel. I never thought of visiting for a night swim! Good to know I would need to be a guest though to enjoy that pleasure. And of course we did not miss the night market for treats. A city we will definitely go back to!

Loved my time in Singapore ... I loved Little India the best ... some of the most delicious curry I've ever tasted. I couldn't believe how hot and humid it was, and even though I don't like shopping, I'd go into a mall just to get a blast of cold air.

I love to explore cities at night. They always give a different vibe and energy. I can imagine that the Garden of the Bay gives a different perspective at night than at day. I'll love to see the 'infamous dancing water' and I wonder if it is similar to the dancing water in front of Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
So do I, especially in warmer countries too. I'm not familiar with the water show in Dubai, but I can imagine it's similar 🙂
