Traveling to the Philippines is like unwrapping a Christmas present: you never know what you’re gonna get.
The country has around 7,107 islands to explore. An archipelago that sits directly south of Taiwan and north of Indonesia, the Philippines is bursting with tremendous travel potential.
And among the thousands of islands is the tropical paradise of Boracay. Boracay attractions extend beyond its award-winning beaches.
One of the most beautiful places in the Philippines, this post outlines 6 reasons why you need to visit.

The epitome of what you'd define as a tropical island, it's your temporary escape from life in the real world.
6 good reasons to visit Boracay
1. Boracay is an accessible island
Boracay is situated in the Visayas region of the country, south of the capital, Manila. The island sits at the north-western tip of Panay Island.
A destination popular among holidaymakers and honeymooning couples, Boracay is paradise personified.
There are regular flights from Manila that'll get you to Boracay. From its nearest airport, Godofredo P. Ramos, also known as Boracay Airport, a coach and ferry ride will conclude the second part of your journey.
If it sounds like a tiring journey, the truth is it is. However, any lethargy will vanish the moment you set eyes on the coastline and on some of the best Boracay attractions.
2. Boracay has incredible beaches
Needless to say, the best Boracay attractions are its incredible beaches.
White Beach is the most popular stretch of beach on Boracay and is split into 3 stations:
- Station 1 is the northernmost with high-end hotels and resorts;
- Station 2 is the commercial center where you'll find most of the bars, restaurants and shops
- The 3rd station is the southernmost with cheaper accommodation as it's the furthest from the beachfront. It's also less developed than Stations 1 and 2.
By a long stretch, the most popular station is Station 2. The epicenter of entertainment, it's where most visitors prefer to stay.
Where the sand never burns
One of the most remarkable features about the Boracay beaches is that the sand never gets hot.
The fine grains of sand manage to stay cool even with temperatures reaching over 89.6°F (32°C).
It made morning and afternoon strolls on the beach more bearable, and the soles of my feet much happier.
3. The beachfront hotels in Boracay
Boracay has some wonderful hotels and resorts that cater to every type of traveler. I personally recommend staying at either The Lind Boracay or Coast Boracay.
The Lind is in Station 1, and offers guests a luxury stay with the best position right on the beachfront. What's more, they've a free shuttle service that'll take guests to the airport.
Coast Boracay is also right on the beachfront but in Station 2. There's free Wi-Fi access around the hotel, plus a swimming pool on site in case you fancy a change from the sea.

4. The shopping in Boracay
Shopping may not sound like the most appealing of Boracay attractions. But, when on a paradise island far from the nearest city, having shops nearby can be handy.
The D Mall shopping center is located in Station 2. Its layout comprises an outdoor series of shops rather than an enclosed traditional shopping mall.
It sells a wide variety of goods ranging from toiletries to beachwear. Nearby are cafes and snack bars when you feel the need to stop for a refreshment break.
Another mall alternative in Boracay is CityMall. It's a bit of a distance from White Beach but has some supermarkets that visitors staying long term will find useful.
5. Boracay's fresh produce
With its prime coastal location, it's easy to fresh and healthy when visiting Boracay.
For me, the fresh produce is one of the best Boracay attractions. It might sound strange to read but it's a big highlight of visiting the island. During my stay, I started each morning with a freshly-made green mango juice. Naturally sweet, refreshing, healthy and cheap, it really set up my day.
For lunch, we regularly indulged in some fresh seafood. Choose from newly-caught steamed lobster or grilled shrimps with a simple seasoning.
6. Boracay's banging nightlife
An island that completely transforms at night, Boracay becomes a hotbed of nighttime activity.
A regular nocturnal event is the infamous Boracay PubCrawl at Station 2, which promises to turn 'strangers into friends.' It usually takes place Mondays and Saturdays from 7.30pm to 12am*, and Wednesday and Fridays from 7.30pm to 1.30am*.
Epic Boracay isn't only where the cool set come to party, it's also the most popular club on the island. This bar and restaurant takes you from the day well into the night.
Come here to sip on a few cocktails before tearing up the dance floor to the hottest tunes.
Entertainment for all
If loud music and dancing isn't your thing, grab a bench, and a view, at Sirena at Shangri-La Boracay. This elegant seafood restaurant has a wooden terrace with open-sided cabanas and sublime seafood.
The only noise you'll hear here will be from the gentle waves crashing against the shore.
Keep Boracay clean
The island was closed in 2018 for 6 months for a major clean-up. While tourism brings great opportunity for the locals and the country's economy, the environment suffers as a result.
The Philippines is heavily promoting its efforts to practice sustainable tourism.
Just before Boracay re-opened, the Philippine Department of Energy donated 200 electric tricycles to the local government.
This was to help improve the public transport system, and to also provide a sustainable and environmentally-friendly mode of transportation.
There are also some new rules in place for visitors to observe such as no drinking or smoking on the beach.
Do your part
As visitors, make sure to do everything you can to leave the beaches and landscape clean, and ready for others to enjoy.
There's so much that Boracay has to offer, and my words are no match for its reality. Boracay has collected several accolades, including being voted the best island in the world.
The diversity of the group I traveled to Boracay with is testament that tourism is indeed growing in the Philippines.
If the country's on your bucket list, I strongly urge you visit soon, as other travelers are right behind you.
When to visit Boracay Philippines?
The best time to travel to Boracay is between December to April. It gets very hot during May and June, where two showers a day is the minimum.

Boracay has been on my bucket list for a while now, but I just can't seem to make it happen. I keep trying, though! I've been in love with it ever since I came across it in a magazine.
Definitely try and visit Stacie, it's much more beautiful now since they cleaned it up too!
Although I realise you visited a while back, Boracay is still the same, only more crowded! I was there a couple of weeks ago and the White Beach, although gorgeous, is so full of people that it's hard to catch a good picture without a crowd. Nevertheless, I still loved visiting the island, the vibe was amazing, the food was so fresh, the sunsets were breathtaking, the waters so clear and lovely and the people were amazing. Not to forget, the nightlife was unlike anywhere else!
Ah I can just imagine! I wouldn't probably go back, as there are better places to visit now. However, I'm glad I went when I did, and still experienced the Boracay vibe 😀

The white beach in Boracay is amazing. Never have been to Boracay yet even though have been many times to the philippines! There seems to be a lot of things than can be done there, although it's sad that it got way too popular and crowded from what I have heard. Would still like to visit and see what it is about!
I know what you mean. When I went there in 2013, it was already busy but now I've heard it's far more populated. If you're ever in the region, I'd still recommend seeing it; the sand doesn't burn your toes!
I went to the Philippines for the first time 2 years ago and fell in love with it. I'd love to go back and see more of this beautiful country. Boracay is definitely on my list - it looks like paradise there!

Gorgeous! I would love to visit here! I was so curious to know why the sand never burns your feet - I can't say I've ever been to a beach in a hot temperature where the soles of my feet haven't felt red hot after a few steps! So it's interesting to hear the sand stays cooler here. Really hope to visit one day! The "more fun in the Philippines" campaign has done a really great job of boosting tourism.

More than 7000 islands?! That's crazy! I had no idea! When I spent 9 months travelling last year I actually had the opportunity to visit Philippines for a week over my birthday, but decided against it because I would rather wait and spend a more significant amount of time there than a week. As your post shows, there's so much the country has to offer! I'd love to spend at least a month there.
Yes, I think many people don't realise there's over 7,000. I agree, that to really see the country you need to spend a lenghty amount of time there. But it's beautiful and the people are really friendly.

I've only been to Manila in the Philippines, I really need to go back and visit other parts of the Islands. I'd love to check out the nightlife in Boracay, if it's anywhere near as good as Manila it will be a party like it's 1999. I haven't been to the Philippines yet, but it's no wonder why it's been popping up so much in my newsfeed lately! The government is seriously trying to get travellers to come visit and Boracay sounds like the perfect destination to start! I've noticed that many bloggers are talking about the Philippines' islands rather than the mainland. Are the islands better for foreigners? Did you visit the mainland as well?
I would highly suggest getting to the islands first, as I fear it will soon become like Thailand. I've also visited the mainland, and can recommend seeing places like Bohol (Chocolate Hills) and a place called Tagaytay. Just stunningly beautiful, and quite unheard of still too.
Ooh Boracay is stunning! I need to make it out to the Philippines soon! I grew up on the West Coast by Los Angeles and the only beach I knew burned my feet when it got too hot. I can't imagine being able to walk along the beach without having to run or bury my feet at each step!

Boracay is a beautiful place to visit. It has a lot packed for all da right from when you wake till when you retire at night. Glad to read that it accommodates people on low budget also without bias. I'd be sure to visit when I visit the Philippines.

Philippines is also like food from a bottom bowl! It has so much to give that I believe I need atleast a month or more to somewhat explore the natural beauty of the country! That dining table in the middle of the water is just gorgeous! The perfectly romantic getaway! I hope to visit the country in future!

I was in the Philippines at the beginning of the year and I plan to return at the end of this year. I only explored Luzon so I would love to make my way over to Boracay. I knew it was the place to relax and explore but I didn't know about the night life. This has made me want to go even more. I am def putting Boracay on my list to go to when I am next in the Philippines
