Infiorata di Noto: 2026 guide to tickets & dates

Last updated on April 12th, 2026.

Each year in mid- to late May, the Infiorata di Noto transforms the Sicilian city of Noto into a floral masterpiece.

In 2026, the 47th edition takes place from Saturday 16th to Tuesday 19th May. This year's theme is Pop Culture.

Expect to see floral interpretations of iconic cinema, music legends and modern digital art. This year marks a departure from traditional themes of the past.

The resident's secret: Friday night (May 15th)

While the official exhibition opens on Saturday May 16th, the most atmospheric time to visit Noto is Friday night, May 15th.

This is when the infioratori (flower masters) work through the night to place thousands of petals on Via Corrado Nicolaci.

The perk: you don’t need a ticket to walk the side streets on Friday night. On top of that, you get to see the behind-the-scenes labor that goes into these masterpieces.

The vibe: quiet and focused, something you won’t find on the weekend. It’s the best window for photos without the massive weekend crowds.

Important dates for the 2026 festival

Sunday 17th May: 9am to 1pm

Monday 18th & Tuesday 19th May: 9am to 11pm

Parking and shuttle info for Infiorata di Noto 2026

If you’re driving to Noto for the festival, don’t attempt to drive into the historic center.

Almost all streets leading to Via Corrado Nicolaci will be ZTL (limited traffic zones) or physically blocked for the floral displays.

Where to park: instead, try Parcheggio Centrale, located off Via Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour. These fill up quickly on the weekend so arrive early.

The 2026 shuttle service: for the 47th edition, the municipality typically organizes a bus navetta (shuttle bus). For a few Euros, the shuttle will drop you within a short walk of Porta Reale.

📌 Lisa’s tip: If you're coming from Syracuse or Avola, consider taking the local train or the Interbus no. IN01. It drops you at the bottom of the hill. While it’s a 10 to 20-minute walk up to the center, you’ll avoid the 2026 parking chaos entirely.

The festival

One of the most unique festivals in Italy, the festival used to last for 3 days. However, its growing popularity has seen it increase to 5 days in recent years.

Via Corrado Nicolaci in May - what to do in Noto
Via Corrado Nicolaci is where the Infiorata di Noto takes place

One of the best things to do in Noto, the festival is one to consider seeing when planning your trip to Italy.

May isn't just ideal for seeing the Infiorata; it's also an ideal month to visit Noto itself. The weather's sunny but not overly hot and the crowds have yet to reach its peak level.

Where is Noto?

Noto is a small city in the province of Syracuse in the south of Sicily. It’s famous for its baroque architecture, richly-decorated wrought-iron balconies and its historic churches.

Festivities for the Infiorata di Noto typically take place in the ‘centro storico’, attracting visitors and artists from around Italy and beyond.

What to expect at the Infiorata di Noto

The principle street of Via Corrado Nicolaci is where the event takes place.

A carpet of flowers in a myriad of colors lines the long historic cobbled-stone street. Via Corrado Nicolaci is also where you’ll find the famous wrought-iron baroque balconies.

The sloped streets of Noto city center also add to the floral arrangement’s dramatic finish. To say the Infiorata di Noto is impressive is an understatement.

It’s a showcase of art, passion and tradition all rolled into one. And it’s something we have the association of flower masters, Maestri Infioratori di Noto, to be thankful for.

How the masters create the art

The 'maestri' place each flower in place according to the festival's theme. In 2023 it celebrated the theme of Cinema.

On the first day of the event, the main road barriers are removed and visitors can begin admiring the art. They do keep barriers surrounding the floral displays, so getting too close isn’t an option.

The meaning of Infiorata di Noto

Infiorata literally translates as 'flowered', which gives you an idea behind the event’s name.

Throwback to 2018: The 'Sicily and Japan' theme was one of my favorites! It shows just how versatile the Maestri Infioratori are. I can’t wait to see how they interpret the 2026 Pop Culture theme by comparison

And it starts

On the Friday morning, the official inauguration of the Infiorata di Noto takes place. And at around 5pm, the masters begin decorating the designated streets beneath the gaze of the public.

They don’t usually finish until the next morning, but some spectators stay and watch the whole night.

Come Saturday, the floral display's complete and open to the public all day.

There’s a feeling of celebration and festivity in the air, as visitors go around admiring the floral works of art. On the final day, a flag wavers parade marches through the streets.

Typically starting around 3pm, the paraders, dressed in Baroque costumes, walk the streets accompanied by musicians.

Please note that the Infiorata di Noto program changes every year. Because of this, some features listed here may not reflect the current program.

Why you should visit the Infiorata di Noto

You don’t have to be green-fingered to appreciate this colorful flower festival in Sicily. It’s enough seeing the scale, and amount of effort, that goes into creating this work of art.

More than a festival

What’s more, walking around Noto’s historic center is like walking straight into a real-life museum.

Baroque churches and the awesome 18th century Noto Cathedral sit within meters of each other on Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Being a spectator at the Infiorata di Noto is just the candied fruit on the Cassata cake.

FAQs

Can I buy tickets at the gate?

Yes, but queues at the Info Point on Corso Vittorio Emanuele may be long. Online booking is easy, quicker and recommended for 2026.

Is the festival accessible for strollers/wheelchairs?

Noto is hilly and cobbled. While you can view the flowers from the street level, there are some steep inclines and crowds.

What happens if it rains?

The flower masters are experts. They know how to handle minor rain. If there's a heavy storm, they may cover, or refresh, the displays.

  1. To buy a ticket online for May 21st are there set times set aside for visiting the decorated street as the website only shows tickets for 9.00am. It is all in Italian so I’m at a loss to fully understand it and wonder if it is worth buying the tickets if we are only arriving in Noto around 10am?

    1. Hi, I read the description and unfortunately it doesn't say anything about whether your ticket will be valid after 9am. Tickets don't cost that much so maybe it's worth taking a chance? Sicilians are usually more laidback and relaxed with these kinds of things so they may still allow entry?

  2. We will be in Noto for the flower festival 2024.
    What day is the parade?
Best day to view the beautiful flower displays?? So hard to get info on the 2024 schedule.
    Thank you.

    1. Hi Frances, the festival will take place from 17 to 21 May 2024. The display will be open to the public from Saturday 18 May from 9am but you must get tickets beforehand. They cost €3.50 + €0.60 per person. Personally, I would prefer to view the display on Monday 20 or Tuesday 21. The weekend will likely be busier and attract Sicilian visiting from Catania or neighboring places. From the information this year, it's not clear whether there will be a parade. The program does change from year to year.

  3. What a great post, thank you for all the information on the beautiful town of Noto.
The flower display is spectacular and I would like to know how long the flowers stay on the street after the weekend. How crowded is the town on the weekend of the display? If the flowers remain for a few days after, does it still look as good and would it be better to visit then when it would be less crowded?

    1. Hi Barbara, thank you so much for your message. From our experience, the display was removed by the Monday afternoon, but you could still see smaller displays of the year's theme around the city centre. It wasn't so crowded when we were there, but again, this may have changed since. Covid has of course affected the number of people that can visit, so it's definitely worth planning ahead for next year if you'd like to see it. It's a beautiful event!
