Where to stay in Tulum
Last updated on February 10th, 2026.
Tulum is a different scene today than when I first visited a few years ago.
The town on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula was typically a day trip that you took from Cancun.
Today, Tulum is a place that has become a destination in its own right. The Tulum Mayan ruins and Coba continue to attract visitors, as do attractions like the Dos Ojos cenote.
Tulum is also a good base to visit other popular landmarks, such as Chichen Itza and Valladolid.
Where to stay in Tulum
In recent years, Tulum has also become popular with people wanting to stay long term. Digital nomads and social media influencers are drawn to its laid-back lifestyle, low-cost living and glorious sunshine.
To cater to this growing group, there has also been an increase in the number, and style, of accommodation types in Tulum. If big name hotels aren’t your thing, these 10 Airbnbs in Tulum may offer a unique alternative.
From apartments to lofts, here are 10 beautiful boutique options if you're wondering where to stay in Tulum. Use my unique referral code to get $40 off your first Airbnb experience.
